Nobody at Enchula Resort in Kajiado knew that the United States (U.S.) First Lady Jill Biden would make two stop-overs at the establishment during her maiden visit to Kenya as the First Lady.

Dr Jill visited the establishment renowned for the "choma sufuria" meat delicacy and being a "green island" in the desert on Sunday, February 26 on the final day of her trip to Kenya.

She was in Kajiado county for a World Vision nutrition outreach programme given that Kajiado is among the 22 counties worst hit by the ongoing drought, and which was at the heart of her trip to Kenya.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Regina Njambi, the proprietor of Enchula Resort, revealed the secret plans that officials from the embassy engaged in ahead of the trip.

Njambi indicated that for two weeks, the officials from the U.S. Embassy camped at the resort but it was business as usual for the employees.

Little did she know that the officials were actually preparing her facility to host the wife of the most powerful person in the world.

"Two weeks prior to her visit, a lot of visitors from the embassy and from the United States in general camped at our establishment.

"However, it seemed normal because we usually host a lot of visitors and conferences organised by the embassy at Enchula," an elated Njambi revealed.

However, on the day of Jill's visit, Njambi indicated that there was increased activity from the visitors from the embassy and when the First Lady arrived, it was evident that it was not business as usual.

"There was so much activity as police dogs and secret service officers combed every corner of the hotel as if in search of something," Njambi recalled to Kenyans.co.ke.

"She did not even stay for long during her first visit" Njambi revealed adding that the First Lady only used her establishment to exchange vehicles before progressing with her journey.

"During the second stop and vehicle exchange, interacted with our staff, and even took photos, something I do not take for granted" he continued.

However, Jill did not take any meal at the establishment that charges Ksh2,500 a plate for lunch and Ksh,6,500 for Bread and Breakfast single.

Njambi expressed her enthusiasm going forward indicating that she was encouraged by Jill Biden's recognition of her green efforts at the establishment.

"She recognised the efforts we take to ensure we maintain a green environment all around and that is good marketing for our hotel," she concluded.
