Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua and her Wiper counterpart, Kalonzo Musyoka, on Friday, March 10, vowed to represent Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni at the Supreme Court in a case filed against him.

While addressing a rally in Migori, Karua downplayed the summons to the court, maintaining that her Azimio side had concrete evidence backing Kioni's stance.

Karua and Kalonzo made reference to reports alluding that Kioni was set to be summoned to the Supreme Court to substantiate his claims on Azimio la Umoja Coalition winning the 2022 presidential election.

She dared anyone challenging the logic of Kioni's numbers to open the servers used by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for scrutiny.

“Let them desist from summoning Kioni at the Supreme Court. I have also mentioned on several occasions that we won the elections. If you believe we did not win then open the servers for the truth," Karua noted.

“If you insist that Kioni should present himself at the Supreme Court then write down my name as one of his lawyers. I too have questions to ask and none of the judges has the experience I have in legal matters."

On his part, Wiper Party Leader- who also spoke in the rally, asserted that Azimio would line up a legal team comprising himself, Karua, Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo and other prominent lawyers to defend Kioni in such an eventuality.

He saluted the SG for bravery in his move to publicly publish results presented to them by an alleged whistleblower.

“I want to congratulate Kioni who I hear has been summoned. Myself, Martha Karua, Otiende Amollo and James Orengo will go to the court to oppose it,” Kalonzo noted.

In a statement released on Friday, March 10, the Supreme Court clarified that "a mention had been slotted for March 17 before the Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court to confirm compliance on the filing of responses and submissions".

Thereafter, the statement added that a bench will be formed to hear the matter.

A lobby group moved to the Supreme Court seeking direction on what they termed a misrepresentation of facts by Kioni regarding the outcome of the 2022 polls.
