President William Ruto's mother, Mama Sarah, was thrilled by the views at the Nairobi National Park on Saturday, March 11.
Mama Sarah visited the national park, enjoying the scenic view of wildlife in the park, and noted how easy and affordable it is to access the national park. She was hosted by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Director General Erustus Kanga.
She went on to encourage the KWS staff to work hard in protecting and conserving wildlife for the current and future generations.
Additionally, Mama Sarah was seen in one of the tour vehicles being taken around the park which covers about 117 square kilometres.
After the trip, Mama Sarah, in the company of some friends, was seen enjoying a meal under a tree.
"Our Parks have become an ideal location for senior citizens who are looking for physical activities and social interaction with nature," KWS stated.
Furthermore, KWS indicated that in the recent past, parks had undergone significant transformations in road infrastructure and nice experiences in an effort to attract young and old tourists.
"Nairobi Park is exceptional. A few minutes' drive from the Central Business District (CBD), the park promises seclusion, relaxation, and tranquility away from the frenzy of the city," KWS added.
Notably, the park is globally recognised for being the only national park located in the capital city, It offers a great view of the wildlife against the city's skyscrapers backdrop.
It is home to the endangered rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes, and over 400 bird species. Some of the activities at the park include camping, game viewing, picnics, and corporate and special events.
For citizen and resident adults the park charges Ksh 430 entry fee and Ksh215 for children while non-resident adults pay Ksh5,500 (USD 43) and children pay Ksh2,800 (USD 22).
However, all tourists are urged to be aware of any charges based on the activities to be conducted or vehicle used among other charges.
