"The accident happened at about 12.20 a.m. No survivors! I was among the first on the scene. A man was pulled out just as the engine caught fire," the witnesses wrote.

Officers noted that the deceased was speeding and lost control of the vehicle, hitting the pillar separating the two roads. His body was taken to City Mortuary.

A post-mortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death. The police are also waiting for for the man's family to identify and claim his body.

A traffic snarl-up was witnessed following the accident as motorists stopped their cars to rescue the occupants of the vehicle.

The Nairobi Fire Brigade arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire. Footage from the scene revealed that the entire front part of the vehicle was reduced to ashes.

The wreckage was later towed to the Pangani Police Station for processing and mechanical assessment

Police officers recorded statements from some of the witnesses to aide with the investigation to establish the cause of the accident.

The accident happened barely two weeks after yet another vehicle burst into flames on Thika Road. Police claimed that the incident was due to mechanical failure.

Amid rising cases of vehicles catching fire, motor vehicle expert Millr Kyalo explained that the engine fires are mainly caused by faulty electrical wiring systems.
