Lawyer Silas Jakakimba, an advisor to Azimio Party Leader Raila Odinga, tendered his resignation on Friday, March 17, a few days after he slammed East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP, Winnie Odinga.

Jakakimba addressed the letter to the Registrar of Political Parties requesting his name be scrapped from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

"This is to inform your office that I have resigned, effective immediately as (Life) Member of the ODM Party of Kenya. Kindly effect this decision by striking out my name from Party's Office Membership Register," read part of the statement.

He also penned a goodbye message to the former Prime Minister, highlighting their 20-year-old relationship.

"I am privileged to share in the rare pride that I have been there with you as you waved several challenges to see to an overhaul of our then governance architecture into a new constitutional dispensation that codified Devolution at the very centre of our governance - a lasting legacy that remains to stand on your name through to yonder generations," he stated.

Jakakimba praised Raila for allowing him to serve as his Parliamentary Personal Assistant (2007), Personal Assistant to the Prime Minister (Coalition Government), and an advisor since November 25, 2015.

He compared Raila to South Africa's late President Nelson Mandela for his efforts to free the African continent.

'I have no doubts in my mind and believe that in this historical and monumental quest for a better Nation whose Devolution dividends Kenyans proudly associate with, I have been a dependable, reliable, loyal, and steadfast aide," he added.

" I take this opportunity to inform you that I have taken the liberty to formally take time off the Advisory Role at the Raila Odinga Secretariat effective immediately. With so much gratitude and honour, Jakom, receive the assurances of my highest respect and consideration and, Prayers for your continued good health and long life," he concluded.

On March 12, the lawyer alleged that Winnie had accused him of betrayal. However, Jakakimba affirmed that he was loyal to Raila

"It is imperative moving forward that Winnie learns to respect people for who they are - if not least, for what they have been in a long journey of several lows and countable highs, for love of Country," the lawyer suggested.

However, on March 14, Winnie dismissed the claims fronted by the lawyer.
