Roots Party Leader George Wajackoyah, on Friday, March 17, claimed that his life was in danger due to his role in mass action demonstrations.

During a roadside rally in Ruiru, Wajackoyah alleged that officers drawn from the National Intelligence Service (NIS) were tracking his phone in attempts to arrest him and other Azimio la Umoja leaders.

However, the renowned lawyer maintained that he would continue pushing for reforms and justice despite any attempt to cow him and his opposition peers.

“We are on this until we finish. The NSIS officers have started to send me messages in attempts to detain me as you have planned to arrest Raila Odinga,” Wajackoyah stated in the rally.

He asserted his commitment to the mass action rallies, stating that he would stop at nothing to see the demands of the opposing faction addressed.

In addition, the former Presidential candidate alleged an attempt to hurt former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in Kimabu Town after an alleged teargas canister exploded in the rally

Wajackoyah claimed that the explosion was an assassination plot targeting the opposition leaders for their involvement in the rallies.

“You have to give a statement on why you allowed your police officers to hurl the explosive in the rally," he noted.

The allegations by Wajackoyah came days after he was caught up in a scuffle while en route to Tanzania on March 2.

Wajackoyah was temporarily blocked from crossing over to the East African nation for unknown reasons despite his stance that he was compliant with the immigration rules.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Wajackoyah decried a violation of his rights and blamed the situation on his political stances.

"If any citizen has been stopped from entering the country, he needs to be informed in advance. They breached my rights when they put the caveat and failed to inform me (in time)," Wajackoyah noted.

Interior CS, Kithure Kindiki, had yet to respond to Wajackoyah's allegations of NIS tracking him and an assassination plot targeting Raila.
