Well-wishers across the world through a GoFundMe campaign page raised Ksh527,340 (USD3986) for a couple, Edward and Sarah Morema, found dead in Nyamira County on Tuesday, March 21.
The campaign sought to raise money to fight for justice following the gruesome murder of the duo.
It was created on March 24 and seeks to raise Ksh6.6 million (USD50,000) for the family and will close on April 14, 2023.
Neigbours of the couple in Minnesota USA also launched a petition to push the US government to intervene and seek justice for the family.
"The Minnesota resident is demanding justice for Edward and Grace and are asking the USA state department to assist in the investigation of this matter by collaborating with the Kenyan Government," read part of the petition.
Those who knew the two lamented that the gruesome murder left many worried to travel to Kenya.
Following the events, two US senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith called upon the US state department to liaise with the Kenyan authorities to ensure the culprits are apprehended.
"It is important that we get a full account of the details surrounding this tragedy and my office is in contact with the State Department," Klobuchar disclosed.
"My heart hurts for their children, family, and friends as they mourn this unimaginable loss. They will be in my thoughts during this difficult time," Smith added.
The couple was found tied up with binding wire and had several cuts on their bodies. The man was found dead in the garage while the woman's body was found in a pool of blood in the bedroom.
According to police, it was believed that the act was committed by a professional hitman who did not leave any evidence behind.
The house help and gardener were taken in for questioning as investigations continue.
Reportedly, the couple was in the country on vacation.
