A contingent of police officers was deployed to President (Rtd.) Uhuru Kenyatta's rural residence in Ichaweri, Kiambu County, on Thursday, March 30.

Gatundu South sub-county police commander, Jonathan Koech, confirmed that the officers pitched camp to beef up security at the Kenyatta residence.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, three administration police officers armed with rifles and dressed in full combat manned the main entrance, occasionally surveying the vicinity.

Notably, police also beefed up security at Azimio principal Marth Karua's residence in Kimunye, Kirinyaga county.

A police Land Cruiser was parked outside the residential home. Five police officers manned the road to Karua's home and interacted with passers-by.

The new development came within five days of the invasion of Northlands firm, a property owned by the Kenyatta family, by hundreds of unknown individuals.

Uhuru's family lost millions following the attack, including 1,400 sheep valued at Ksh70 million. Locals reported that rowdy youth were brought in from a different part of the country.

The siege that lasted for hours culminated in the torching of a section of the farm. Azimio leaders condemned the attack and called out the police over their noticeable absence during the heinous act.

According to the coalition party chief Raila Odinga, the raid was allegedly masterminded by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Police officers responded the following day and launched investigations into the attack. Meanwhile, the Kenyatta family beefed up security by increasing security guards who would patrol the firm with German Shepherd dogs.

President William Ruto condemned the attack on private property during his trip to Germany. He directed the Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome, to ensure the safety of the private property.

"Kenya is a country of the rule of law and has responsible citizens. As President, I will ensure that no one’s property is destroyed or life lost, That is what makes us equal. Nobody should trample on the rights of others,” the Head of State assured.
