Farouk Teigut Kibet, one of the longest-serving aides of President William Ruto, is a patron of 40 churches.
Kibet's role was revealed following an advertisement aired on a local TV station on Friday, March 31, announcing an upcoming interdenominational church service.
According to the advert, Kibet oversees the operation of 40 churches from the Western and Rift Valley region. With his position, he also helps religious institutions access necessary resources for their sustainability.
The advert indicated that Kibet was inviting believers and other members of the public to an interdenominational service on Saturday, April 1.
According to the public announcement, the upcoming event is a thanksgiving service organised in collaboration with Malava Member of Parliament Malulu Injendi.
The thanksgiving will be held at Silungai Primary School in Malava.
"I, Farouk Kibet, the patron of 40 churches, welcome you to an interdenominational service. Let us all come and thank the Lord," Kibet stated in an advert aired on Citizen TV.
Kibet welcomed Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula, among other leaders.
The politician, who is an ally of the President, was made the patron of 40 churches due to his generosity. Reports indicated that Kibet organised fundraisers mostly in the Western and Rift Valley Region, becoming an astute leader trusted by religious leaders.
On October 9, 2022, Kibet held a thanksgiving interdenominational service in Uasin Gishu County attended by Gachagua, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, among others.
Murkomen, at the time, praised Kibet indicating that he had been a loyal assistant to Ruto.
Kibet joined Ruto's camp in 1997 after working with the late KANU veteran MP Reuben Chesire in Eldoret North.
His desire to work with Ruto earned him a nomination making him the councillor of Wareng from the same year until 2003.
While serving, Kibet dedicated his resilience, hard work, and charisma to serving the Head of State.
During his tenure, Kibet brushed shoulders with Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, among other Ruto allies.
In Ruto's government formation, he was touted to take the State House Comptroller's role before the Head of State gave Katoo Ole Metito the job.
