Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki is among 5 Kenyans on the list of 50 African trailblazers, within the same week in which he was named the top-performing secretary in President William Ruto's Cabinet.

The list was compiled by the pan-African magazine, Business Review Afrika and honours fifty Africans from different countries and professions who have achieved exemplary success in their fields.

The magazine honoured him for posting impressive results in his ministry and highlighted his academic background including the fact that he was the second Kenyan to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in law at only 31 years of age.

“As a Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kindiki recorded impressive results in his Interior and National Coordination docket in his first 100 days at the ministry. At the time of taking over the docket, Kenya's capital, Nairobi, was a haven of petty criminals who made the city unsafe.

Within days, Prof. Kindiki had managed to strategically deploy security personnel in all affected parts of Nairobi thus ensuring the residents were safe,” the magazine notes in its tribute to Kindiki.

According to the magazine, the list is made up of those who have made a significant impact and changed the African narrative.

They aim to use the stories and achievements of the people on the list to inspire others to achieve great milestones in their professions.

The other four Kenyans on the list include included billionaire businessman and Equity Bank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) James Mwangi, Founder and CEO of Glass House PR, Mary Njoki, Charlot Magayi, and Nelly Cheboi.

Two of the five Kenyans were commended for their work in social impact projects.

One is Nelly Cheboi who made the headlines when she was named CNN Hero of the Year in 2022

This was because of her work in building computer labs for school-going children in rural parts of Kenya through her organization TechLit Africa. She was also honoured in the Forbes 30 under 30 in 2022.

Magayi, on the other hand, is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mukuru Clean Stoves. Her firm makes modern cooking stoves that use less fuel than traditional cooking stoves and reduces household air pollution.

For her efforts to mitigate the effects of household air pollution, she was awarded the Waislitz Global Citizen Award in 2019.

CS Kithure Kindiki was also honoured in February 2023 by Infotrak when he was ranked as the top-performing member of President William Ruto’s Cabinet.

The survey that sampled 2,000 respondents ranked the performance of Ruto’s Cabinet in their first 100 days in office.
