Police officers based in South B, Nairobi are investigating a mysterious disappearance of a 12-year-old girl, Akolde Dut Paul, who was last seen on March 23, 2023.
Reports indicated that the student was last seen in the Hazina area of the South-B estate at a local supermarket.
According to Akolde's family, she was sent to the supermarket to buy milk at the retailer but did not return that day. Her noted that the family got worried after she took too long to come back home
“After work supermarkets are always full… I thought maybe there are queues but when it got to 6:20 pm, I got worried and rushed to the supermarket to check. She wasn’t there,” she stated.
The supermarket's management accused the 12-year-old of shoplifting and she was sent home to bring her parents. CCTV footage revealed that the girl had spent over 30 minutes around the confectionary section, which caught the management's attention.
The store's security caught her and it is claimed that she had shoplifted a bar of chocolate.
According to the store's management, the girl was sent to get her parents.
Since Akolde's disappearance, her uncle, Luelbai Malok, travelled from South Sudan to Kenya to join the search of their kin.
“I went and recorded a separate case at the DCI Headquarters. They sent me to the child protection unit they also have the case and are investigating," Malok noted.
The guardians called on the police to expedite investigations in ensuring the safe return of their kin.
The news came days after Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris offered Ksh100,000 to find 12-year-old Ashlay Nyaboke who went missing after floods ravaged her home in Wakuru area, Kangemi on March 24.
"If you live along the Nairobi River, we need your help. I'm offering a reward of Ksh100,000 to anyone who can help us find Ashlay. We need to band together as a community and bring her home!
"Can the KDF and foreign embassies provide the necessary equipment to aid in the search?" she posed.
