A woman said to be a daughter of a senior police officer was on Friday, April 21, stabbed to death by her lover at a fast food restaurant in Kitengela, Kajiado County.
Reports indicate that the suspect - an employee at the food joint and a colleague of the deceased - was off duty and arrived at the scene of the crime minutes past 8 pm.
Witnesses claimed that the suspect immediately, who appeared agitated, ambushed the woman, stabbing her violently with a knife he was wielding.
Upon realising the 22-year-old was dead, the suspect fled from the eatery, but the mob chased him, apprehending him nearly 100 meters from the scene.
The mob reportedly assaulted him before he was dragged to the scene as the eatery management called the police.
Emergency service providers who arrived minutes later accompanied by the police rushed the suspect to Kitengela Sub-County Hospital, where he was treated before being placed under custody.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, April 21, Kajiado County police commander Muthuri Mwongera indicated that the suspect stabbed the woman all over the body hence the pool of blood captured in gory photos circulated on social media.
He indicated that the suspect was recuperating and would be interrogated, with police seeking to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
"The suspect will be charged with murder on Monday, April 24,” Mwongera stated.
Following the incident, colleagues of the duo revealed that they had been in an on-and-off relationship for a while.
However, it was not established whether the two had parted ways before the incident occurred.
"The man kept to himself but the woman was always cheerful. What happened is very unfortunate," one of the colleagues stated.
Kenyans.co.ke's efforts to reach the eaterie's management for comment proved futile as they did not pick out calls.
