Former Mombasa County Governor Hassan Ali Joho on Sunday, April 23, made his first public appearance when he publicly declared support for the mass action protests.

As he joined Muslims faithful for Eid celebrations, vehicle enthusiasts could not help but notice the German machine he stepped out of.

The black 2020 Mercedes Benz G63, the high-end variation of the G-Class line, popularly known as the G-Wagon turned many heads at the Eid Baraza.

A quick look at the taxman's duty calculator, filling in the vehicle's particulars revealed that its current retail price was Ksh29.92 million.

The Kenyan government would then charge Ksh3.8 million taxes - 30 per cent of the customs value of Ksh12.8 million.

External and Interior Dimensions

The black beast towers at a height of 1.94 metres, is 4.8 metres long and nearly 2.3 metres wide, including side mirrors.

Inside, the G63 offers ample head and legroom for up to five passengers. In addition, the sitting area offers a cargo capacity of between 1-2 cubic metres.

Engine and Fuel

Joho's G-Wagon is powered by a handcrafted AMG 4.0 litre V8 bi-turbo engine which can generate 577 horsepower at 6,000 revolutions per minute.

In addition, the vehicle offers 627 pounds per foot between 2,500 and 3,300 revs per minute with a compression ratio of 8:6:1.

The diesel-powered engine is fitted with a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and is fed by a 100-litre capacity fuel tank.

Typical of every supercar, the German machine consumes less over long distances, 6.8 kilometres per litre, compared to 5.5 kilometres while driving around the city.

The fuel efficiency is realised by the advanced piezoelectric fuel injectors which spray fuel directly into each cylinder with exceptionally precise metering, ultrafine atomization, and incredibly quick on/off switching speed.

Design

What catches the eyes of many is the signature round headlamps which are powered by advanced LED technology.

Bumpers feature trim elements and wider AMG fender flares with the logo embedded on them.

The cabin offers the ultimate luxury, offering comfort, convenience, and connectivity. Apart from hand-crafted leather interior, manufacturers installed the latest display and infotainment system and a charging pocket.
