Govt Announces Ksh 350K Logo Competition; Requirements

The Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) on Tuesday, April 25, announced a logo competition for all creatives across the country.

In a notice published in the local dailies, the corporation sought to redesign its logo which is the graphical representation of the Corporation as well as review and adopt new corporate colours.

Currently, the logo has four colours comprising green, orange, black, and white. It also has a conical flask, a maize stalk, a rose flower, and a weevil on the ground.

The first, second, and third winners will be awarded Ksh200,000, Ksh100,000, and Ksh50,000 respectively. Additionally, the winner will get an honorary mention during the official logo unveiling ceremony.

All interested participants were urged to make submissions before May 3, 2023, at 10:30 am.

Requirements
KEPHIS emphasised that it was essential for the entrants to identify and apply the organisation's colours in the logo.

The design should be submitted as high-resolution colour in six (6) hard copies on A4 size paper, and black and white in six (6) hard copies on A4 size paper

"Submit the color codes for the various shades of color to be used," KEPHIS advised.

The logo should have the sum total of the institution's core mandates captured in an appropriate motto.

Furthermore, the logo must be clear and distinctly identifiable for effective application on all the institution's Agency materials, instruments, website, social media, and relevant paraphernalia.

Some of the forms required include a Declaration that the submitted design shall belong to and remain the property of KEPHIS, a Confidential business questionnaire, a Certificate of Independent Tender Determination, Self- Declarations forms, and a Declaration and Commitment to the Code of Ethics.

Entrants should also provide a copy of a valid tax compliance certificate, the national ID, the certificate of registration/ incorporation for firms, and their relevant personal details.

The details of the logo should be submitted on a flash disk.

However, KEPHIS pointed out that it reserved the rights to modify the winning logo as well as exclusively own all intellectual property rights.

"Our judge's decision is final and not open to any appeal whatsoever. Only shortlisted participants will be contacted," read part of the statement.
