A 24-year-old mother captured on video killing her daughter in Kitengela on Monday, April 24, underwent some changes after visiting her boyfriend, as recounted by her family and friends.

The suspect's aunt noted that the two lived with each other in Kirinyaga for eight months.

She reportedly returned from the boyfriend's place a week before the incident but was behaving differently, raising much speculation.

On the other hand, the neighbours indicated they heard a commotion and screams from the 24-year-old's house on the fateful night.

Most suspected the family was under a robbery attack, prompting them to rush and intervene to recuse the woman and her 2-year-old daughter.

However, upon reaching the door, they discovered that the young mother was sharpening a knife while sitting on the baby.

The neighbours were surprised, given that the woman was naked and singing nursery school songs.

"I love you, I love you," the woman was heard singing before viciously attacking the daughter with a knife.

While some of the neighbours remained at the scene in an attempt to open the door, some rushed to the Kitengela Police Station to report the incident.

Upon arrival,  police discovered that the woman had blacked out next to the daughter's body and was placed under arrest. She was then rushed to the Kitengela Sub-County Hospital before her arraignment in court.

Kitengela Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Benson Mutia revealed that the investigations would centre on whether the incident was predetermined before charges are preferred against her.

‘’We believe the court will give us more time to investigate this matter. We also want to establish whether this woman is normal or has a mental illness. What she did to her baby is unexplainable,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Court granted the police 10 days to continue holding the mother as they complete investigations.

The boyfriend had not yet spoken about the incident when publishing this article.
