Detectives drawn from the office of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday, April 28, obtained CCTV footage showing how a chef disposed of his girlfriend's body after gruesome murder in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

In a statement, detectives indicated that the man was captured on CCTV walking into his house, where he allegedly packed the lifeless body of his girlfriend, who also doubled up as his coworker at a restaurant in Kamakis, before covering it with a sack.

The suspect then allegedly carried the lifeless body disguised as luggage and disposed it outside the gate to a rental building one kilometer away from his house before walking off.

"CCTV footage obtained by detectives showed the suspect carrying the suitcase at around 9:35pm before dumping it," the DCI statement read in part.

According to the authorities, the accused carried out the heinous act in the dead of the night, kept the body in his house and allegedly went to the eatery along Eastern Bypass where the worked where he informed her boss that she had quit.

Further, the accused informed his colleagues that the two had decided to move out of their apartment to a new place of residence.

"On the same morning, the suspect left the house and went to work as usual. He informed his colleagues that the deceased had quit her job and they would be moving out of their house to an unspecified destination," DCI sleuths indicated.

However, the body dumped in a suitcase and covered with a sack was discovered near an apartment by a landlord on Tuesday, April 18, who reported the matter to Gatongora Police Station.

What Transpired Before the Murder

According to detectives, the lovers moved in together five months ago but their work schedules differed, making them arrive home at different times despite working at the same establishment. The boyfriend always left work at 10 pm while his girlfriend arrived home at 3 am.

On the fateful day, the boyfriend allegedly confronted his girlfriend, expressing concerns over her late-night duties at the restaurant which degenerated into a quarrel.

It was during the argument that the boyfriend allegedly murdered his girlfriend.

Following his arrest, the accused led detectives to his cousin's house, who was found in possession of the deceased phone. The sleuths also traced a shop where he bought a sack to dump the body.

"The suspect is currently in custody as detectives finalise investigations into the murder most horrid before charging him with murder contrary to Section 203 as read with section 204 of the Penal Code," DCI concluded.
