A private home in Juja Kiambu County was on Saturday, April 29, raided by men alleged to be police officers tracing Dorper sheep stolen from Kenyatta Family's Northlands City.
Reports indicated that the armed men traced the nine animals to the farm where the owner was abroad for business.
Patrick Masinde, the Northlands City Farm manager, stated that they recovered the sheep worth Ksh450,000 after a tip-off.
Kiambu County Police boss Perminus Kioi was also said to have issued an update, lauding local whistleblowers. He added that the owner will be contacted as police continue to search for those catering to the sheep.
However, Kioi told Kenyans.co.ke that he was unaware of any recovery of the stolen livestock during the stated period and played cagey with revealing any further information concerning the covert operation.
"I am not aware of any raid that occurred in the area. Try contacting other officials," he stated in a hurry.
So far, nearly 101 have been recovered following the raid at the extensive Ksh50 billion farm associated with retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.
On April 13, 18 sheep worth Ksh900,000 were recovered after the suspects returned the sheep to the farm, according to the Northlands City farm manager.
"We are optimistic about the process, these are not traditional breeds that feed anyhow," he stated.
The raid occurred on Monday, March 27, while countrywide protests announced by Azimio party leader Raila Odinga were underway.
Suspects breached security at the farm, stole the sheep, set a section on fire and constructed a makeshift shelter inside.
The raid was condemned by leaders from the government and the opposition, demanding extra security be provided at the former Head of State's property.
“Kenya is a country of rule of law and has responsible citizens. As President, I will ensure that no one’s property is destroyed or lives lost. That is what makes us equal. Nobody should trample on the rights of others,” President William Ruto assured.
