Images of a pimped-up Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2009 model which was modified to a 2020 model sparked a conversation online regarding its unique and stylish design.

The brains behind the facelift is a youthful mechanic identified as Shaban who works at Amazon Selections Limited located in Nyali, Mombasa County.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Shaban revealed the intrigues behind the entire facelift process, indicating that his team focused on the exterior designs of the vehicle.

He noted that they did not touch the vehicle's internal combustion engine system but only changed the car's radio, sound system and seats according to the customer's preferences.

"We did not touch the internal parts. It remained the same. What we focused on was the body exterior, car seats, and system," he indicated.

In terms of the cost for the entire process, he noted that it ranges from Ksh700,000 and above depending on the type of modifications needed for the project.

The mechanic affirmed that the process took between one and two months.

While detailing the process, he noted that they dismantle the car before panel beaters worked on the entire structure.

Shaban affirmed that the materials needed for the upgrade were either locally assembled or imported based on availability.

Differences between the Prado 120 2009 model and Prado 150 2020 model

The two vehicles showcase distinct exterior differences. Prado 150 boasts a more modern and aggressive look, characterized by a larger and bolder grille, complemented by sleeker headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights.

The 2009 Prado 120, on the other hand, features a slightly narrower grille and comparatively simpler headlight design.

On the sides, the Prado 150 showcases a more streamlined profile and sports stylish alloy wheels, contributing to its contemporary appeal. In contrast, the Prado 120 possesses a slightly less streamlined appearance.

At the rear, the Prado 150 exhibits redesigned taillights that often incorporate LED elements and thus provide a more modern and distinctive lighting signature. The 2009 Prado 120, however, features relatively larger taillights.
