Although quitting one's job without a plan is considered detrimental, especially with the soaring numbers of unemployed Kenyans, some individuals have dared and succeeded.

These Kenyans made the bold move to leave their respective ventures and invest in completely different areas and ended up joining the billionaires' club.

They followed their dreams and for some, it was despite having a vast educational background or much money and resources.

Here are four such Kenyan billionaires who ended up becoming became game-changers in their fields

James Mageria

The late James Mageria left his job as a high-ranking police officer and later became one of the founders of Karen Hospital.

He joined the workforce by first becoming a police officer in the 1960s and rose up the ranks to the position of officer in charge of crime and investigation.

He later became a trainer in the service before ascending to serve as a co-chairman of the Police Oversight Board.

However, Mageria left his career in the police service and joined American Express in Kenya where he rose to become one of the youngest executives at the time. He then joined forces with other businessmen and founded Karen Hospital.

In a previous interview, he stated that he was inspired to enter the field after growing up in Mt Kenya during a time when people were being killed by Mau Mau and bloodshed was taking place.
