On Thursday, May 18, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune donated two state-of-the-art Mercedes vans to Kenya.
The vehicles were received by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi from acting Ambassador of Algeria to Kenya Hamza Karour.
"I thank President Tebboune for his kind gesture. We are very grateful for the donation of the two cars, a powerful symbol of friendship between our two countries.
"Our two countries have a long-standing cordial relationship and history of cooperation. They have worked together in many areas including the education sector," Boss stated.
The two vehicles were a fully-kitted ambulance and an executive van, both from the Mercedes Benz Sprinter collection and are popular for their capability to hold up to 15 passengers at a time.
"The van that goes the extra mile. It's the van that hauls cargo, stows gear, and raises standards. It is a van ready for anything," Mercedes praised the vans make on its website.
They are described as the total package; tough, powerful, efficient, and flexible, and can handle any condition.
Furthermore, they are equipped with innovative safety features to ensure the passengers can focus more on their daily activities.
Some of the safety features include active brake assist that warns of incoming danger and brakes for you, a blind spot assist mirror that has radar sensors to detect vehicles in the blind spot and alert you as well as an attention assist that monitors your driving patterns for signs of fatigue and gives you an early warning.
"Sprinter vans’ quality and stamina help your business save time and money, staying more productive for longer," read part of the description.
The van is also fitted with a 360° camera pre-wiring for the cab chassis which features the same functionality as cargo, active up to speeds of 6 mph.
Additionally, the vans have a new 9G-Tronic transmission that gives Sprinter owners a higher overall gear ratio, increased driving comfort, quicker shifting, and quieter noise levels.
Meanwhile, the ambulance is an emergency vehicle designed and equipped for the transport, intensive care, and monitoring of patients.
