8 Nairobi Estates to Experience an 8-Hour Power Blackout [LIST]

Kenya Power, in a notice, announced that 8 Nairobi Estates would experience a power blackout between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 24.

The power transmission company further revealed that six other counties would also experience electricity blackouts

On why the massive outage, Kenya Power indicated that it was part of network maintenance to improve services for the consumer.

In Nairobi, parts of South C would experience the blackout, affecting areas including; Dafam, Amboseli Estate, College of Insurance and adjacent customers.

“The whole of Sewage, Githunguri and Eastern Bypass will be affected by the routine maintenance,” Kenya Power stated.

Some of the specific areas in that region that would be affected include; Whole of Sewage Estate, St Lwanga Catholic Church and School, Corner Mzuri Estate, Gatuoro Estate, Gituamba Estate, Maji Ya Pili Estate, Lakeview Estate and Parts of Eastern Bypass.

The whole of the Kibiku region was also expected to experience a blackout. Some key areas in Kibiku affected include; Kibiku Estate, Mihango Estate, Karagita Estate, Maguna’s area and adjacent customers.

“Whole of Njiru, Shujaa Estate, Hurlingham Estate, Chokaa Estate, Hera Estate, Kirima Estate, and adjacent customers will be affected,” Kenya Power detailed areas in Njiru that would experience the 8-power blackout.

In Joska, the following regions would lack power for the better part of Wednesday, May 24, Ruai Shopping Centre, Githunguri Est, Mwamba Estate, Block 10 Estate, Makongeni Estate, Twinbird Estate, Kipawa Estate, Made in the Street Estate, Kingoris Estate, Kamulu Town, Reflector Estate, and adjacent customers.

Other regions in Nairobi affected by the power outage include; Vicken Feeder and North Impact Feeder.

In Kiambu County, power outages would be experienced in Kiambaa, Kerwa and Zambezi areas, while Kathonzweni Town in Makueni County would be affected.

Tuiyebei Market in Uasin Gishu was also penned to be affected by the blackout and Migori Town.

In Homabay, the outage will affect Omboga and Adiedo towns between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
