Police officers, on Friday, June 9, at 1 am, found the body of a missing Brazilian missionary burnt in the boot of a car dumped near the Mihango Police Station in Embakasi.

The area residents found the charred body about 10 kilometres from his workstation and alerted the police and firefighters to extinguish the fire.

It was suspected that the foreigner was kidnapped, and his body dumped inside the car before being burnt.

Meanwhile, the Embassy of Brazil in Nairobi stated that the deceased left the house to buy dog food but never returned, adding that his car was being driven by a group of young men at 9 pm on Wednesday, June 7.

The embassy called upon the public to help locate him after the foreigner was reported missing.

Despite the motive of the murder remaining a mystery, police suspect that it could be related to work or money.

His body was moved to the local mortuary as investigations continued, with detectives keen on arresting the culprits.

An autopsy will be conducted on the body to ascertain the cause of death and to reveal his last moments.

Police, nonetheless, interrogated the family and friends to retrace his last step.

His wife and family further urged the police to hasten the investigations and ensure suspects are arrested and charged with murder.
