The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) on Thursday, June 15, announced that it had reopened its portal for students to check whether their first tertiary course applications were successful or not.

In a statement, the university placement body advised the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to visit the portal to check whether they had been provisionally placed in an institution of higher learning.

Those who had not been booked for placement were also advised to make their revisions in line with the cutoff points and their KCSE results.

KUCCPS also detailed that the 2022 KCSE candidates would be alerted whether their application was successful or not through an SMS.

"You will receive an SMS notification starting today (Thursday, June 15). The message will also be posted on your portal tomorrow (Friday, June 15)

"If you applied earlier and failed to secure any of the courses you chose, you will need to apply again. Those who have been placed in a course provisionally need not reapply," read the statement in part.

However, successful applicants will not be able to know the course and university they have been selected to.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, an official at the body indicated that the other details of the university and TVET placement would be made in due course.

"The candidate will only be informed whether their application was successful or not. The exact details of the course and the institution will be known later," the officials stated.

How to Check

One can check whether their application was successful through SMS verification. KUCCPS is expected to send messages to registered phone numbers about the success of the first application

2022 KCSE candidates can also check whether their application was successful by logging into their portal and checking the message posted on their application section on the status.

How to Revise

Those who are not successful can make their application by visiting www.students.kuccps.net and make their application in line with their results and the cutoff points offered for courses across various institutions.

"This year's cut-off points are unavailable. Previous years' cut-off points have been provided to guide you," KUCCPS added.

The portal is set to be closed on June 27, 2023.
