Police officers intervened in a high-profile battle between a first-time member of Parliament and a Cabinet Secretary on Friday, June 17.
The fallout began after an MP, who was not named, claimed that the CS sitting in President William Ruto's administration had forcefully moved into her mansion in Karen, Nairobi County, valued at Ksh120 million.
Addressing the media, the MP's wife maintained that she was shocked to find a heavy security presence at her house in Karen. That was after she sent a contractor to facilitate the cleaning exercise of the mansion.
The contractor was allegedly manhandled and locked out of the premises, which she claimed had already been occupied by the unnamed Cabinet Secretary.
She accused the CS of taking advantage of their absence to move into the house illegally.
"There is no agreement signed whatsoever. There is no transaction that has taken place. This house still belongs to me and my husband.
"Why it is occupied right now, I am as shocked as you are!" The MP's wife stated.
The CS had reportedly approached the first-time MP and offered Ksh90 million to purchase the property but the house owner turned down the deal maintaining that the mansion was valued at Ksh120 million.
"The CS showed interest in the house. She even came to my home and gave us an offer of Ksh90 million. We told her the house's price is Ksh120 million.
"Thereafter, I travelled to the US for my daughter's graduation. When I came back on Wednesday, June 14, I told my people to come and clean my house. To my shock, the house was already occupied," she explained.
Following the standoff, the MP filed a police report and was considering suing the CS for trespass and damages. The aggrieved landlord told reporters that the CS had travelled outside the country at the time of the commotion.
By the time of this publication, the unnamed CS had not come out to issue a statement on the allegations levelled against her.
