1,500m and 5,000m World Record breaker Faith Kipyegon on Saturday, June 17, was gifted a car worth Ksh1.2 million by an Eldoret-based car dealership.

Speaking at RANA Auto Motors in Eldoret, the sensational athlete gave the car to her father, Samuel Kipyegon, indicating that she had fulfilled a promise she made of getting him the ride.

Kipyegon, who was overcome with emotion, lauded the car dealership for the kind gesture and pointed out that the act motivated her to achieve the impossible.

“I stated at State House that I would want to buy my father a car. I can’t believe the promise is coming to reality. They have done it for me. I didn’t know what to say when I got the message."

“It has motivated me to work hard and break more records. I will continue to motivate young people and mothers across the world that it is possible to achieve anything you desire," she noted.

Sulta Rana, the CEO of RANA Auto Motors, revealed that the athlete originally rejected a Toyota Vitz and instead opted for a Toyota Probox for her father who resides in Keringet, Nakuru County.

He hailed Kipyegon's achievements and reiterated his support for Kenyan athletes who continued to fly the country's flag high.

“We have rewarded your father because you have shown us there are no limits to what we can achieve. We are doing this for Kenya because we are proud of our athletes’ achievements," he stated.

The athlete recalled the dues she paid for her victory - indicating that her blood, sweat and tears were a worthy cause to fulfill her father's dream.

“Leaving my daughter at home to train for a whole week is not something I imagined but it is now paying off," Kipyegon stated.

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii also asked the athlete to sign on as the ambassador of the upcoming Devolution Conference set to be held in Eldoret in August 2023.

President William Ruto on Tuesday, June 13, awarded Kipyegon a house worth Ksh6 million, along with a Ksh5 million cash prize for her record-breaking performance in the Florence and Paris Diamond Leagues.

Further, the President promised a Ksh5 million reward for any athlete who broke a world record.

"She has won and broken two world records in 1,500 meters and 5,000 metres. The government of Kenya is going to award her Ksh5 million for the 1,500 metres record and we are going to give her a house worth Ksh6 million in appreciation of the second 5,000 metres record," the head of state revealed.
