The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party on Tuesday, June 20, released a list of Members of Parliament who failed to honour disciplinary summons initiated against them for failing to vote on the Finance Bill 2023.

Among those listed were Rarieda lawmaker Otiende Amollo and his Lang'ata counterpart Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o, who were accused of dismissing show course letters.

ODM also alleged that Amollo, Jalang'o and eleven others failed to heed the 48-hour ultimatum issued on Thursday, June 15.

However, party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna did not indicate whether the thirteen lawmakers offered an explanation as to why they did not respond to the letter.

Other members who defied the ultimatum were Uriri Constituenvy's Mark Nyamita, Titus Khamala (Lurambi), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) and Joseph Oyula (Butula).

Turkana South MP John Ariko, Paul Nabuin (Turkana North), Wilberforce Oundo (Funyula), and Kwale Woman Representative Fatuma Masito also failed to respond to the Thursday directive.

Sifuna, however, confirmed receipt of Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris response to the show cause letter issued to her.

Wajir South MP Aden Adow, his Gem counterpart Elisha Odhiambo, and Caroli Omondi (Suba South) also responded to the disciplinary letters.

The trio, together with Passaris, were sanctioned for voting in favour of the bill during its Second Reading - a decision that defied the party's stand.

Sifuna indicated that the fate of the legislators would be addressed in due course.

"The responses so far received are being processed in accordance with Rule 11 of the ODM Disciplinary Committee (Practice and Procedure) Rules, 2022, and the affected members will be informed of the verdict in due course," read the statement in part.

Further, the Raila Odinga-led party also apologised to Ruaraka MP TJ Kawang' for his inclusion in the disciplinary list.

At the time of the Finance Bill debate, Kajwang' was absent from the house because he was suspended for two weeks.
