“The suspect has been on the run for the past few days and was arrested along Limuru road while escaping with his family from the city to his rural home in Nyandarua County,” read the statement in part.

According to the statement, the man decided to move with all his belongings from Nairobi after he realised that police officers were after him.

The firearms, they added, were linked to cases where innocent victims lost huge amounts of money after making bank transactions.

“After conducting a search in the vehicle, a Czeska pistol serial number B022944 with a magazine loaded with 2 rounds of 9mm ammunition and a CZ P-07 pistol serial number C626319 with a magazine loaded with 12 rounds of 9mm calibre were recovered.

“The firearms have been linked to various incidents where victims have lost money immediately after making transactions in banks,” the statement added.

DCI noted that other suspects were also arrested in connection to the case adding that they would be arraigned in court.

In a separate incident on June 13, DCI officers killed four gangsters suspected of participating in cross-county robberies. The officers claimed that the four gangsters defied orders to surrender and instead opted to engage the sleuths in a fierce shoot-out at night

The four were gunned down in Takaungu Kilifi County, where they were allegedly planning a robbery. The four were pursued by detectives from Mombasa to Kilifi.
