Videos of 20-year-old Fred Otieno were circulated widely after he was likened to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

One of the videos, posted on TikTok by his friend, garnered over 115,000 views in one day.

During an interview with YouTuber Vincent Mboya, on Thursday, July 6, the Homa Bay County resident revealed that he was nicknamed 'Gachagua', with most people arguing that they resembled each other.

The name became more predominant after President William Ruto, and Gachagua took over the reins of power on September 13, 2022.

The 20-year-old expressed his earnest desire to meet the DP, highlighting that he would travel to Nairobi for the first time if he received such an invitation.

He also outlined his desire to return to school, having dropped out of class five.

According to residents, the 20-year-old was reportedly withdrawn from school due to being perceived as a slow learner.

Following his exit from school, he occasionally visited the Mawego Technical Training Institute (TTI) to play and interact with other students.

Given his near resemblance to the DP, he gained popularity among the TTI students and made friends with his peers.

Otieno's friend, who recorded the Tik Tok video, divulged that his sole intention in sharing the clip was to attract the attention of well-wishers who would sponsor the 20-year-old's education.

"I took a video of him. It went viral as the video got over 115,000 views overnight. That is when I started receiving calls from people who wanted us to meet

"He has been my friend and I thought if I take that video, people can come to his aid as he hails from a humble background," the friend stated.

Otieno aspires to pursue a career as a professional driver in the future.
