Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, on Tuesday, July 11, took the initiative to arrange a meeting with an individual who had previously threatened him and his family during the election period.

Accompanied by his legal team, Kalonzo expressed that after deep reflection, he had chosen to forgive the suspect.

During the meeting, the suspect expressed remorse for his actions and sought forgiveness. Kalonzo, acknowledging the individual's genuine apology, encouraged him to embrace a fresh start.

"This afternoon and in the company of my legal team, I met with (name withheld) at the SKM Command Centre. The young man had recorded an audio that went viral on social media whereby he threatened my family and I at the height of the electioneering period. He was arrested and charged by the police," Kalonzo stated.

While alluding to the core teachings of the bible, Kalonzo said he would continue to pray for the young man's counsel and guidance.

"Following deep reflection, particularly on the words of Colossians 3:13 "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you," at my request, we sat down at the same table together."

"He has apologised to my family and me and I have forgiven him just as the Lord continues to forgive me. I pray for (name withheld) and seek God's continued guidance and counselling on his young life," he noted.

A spot check conducted by Kenyans.co.ke on the suspect's social media pages revealed that he was a staunch supporter of President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza government.

Some of the handles contained photos of the fanatic engaging with President Ruto.

Issuing threats

On July 17, 2020, the suspect in a viral video threatened Kalonzo and warned him to leave former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu alone.

He accused the Wiper leader of being behind salary delays in Kitui County at the time. He claimed that Kalonzo was secretly sabotaging operations in Kitui despite being in the same coalition with the former Lands Cabinet Secretary.

Following the incident, the majority of Kenyans speculated what would happen should Kalonzo not heed the warning.

One day later, he was arrested by detectives in Kitui town after going into hiding. The officers, however, traced his mobile phone contacts and tracked him to a bush in Kitui town.

He was subsequently presented before Kibra Chief Magistrate Abdulqadir Lorot and granted Ksh100,000 bail after he declined to take plea.
