National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah has claimed that former President Uhuru Kenyatta has no valuable counsel to provide to his successor, William Ruto.

Ichung'wah, who doubles up as Kikuyu Member of Parliament, on Monday night, July 24, argued that the former Head of State was only a master in propagating handshakes.

"You get invited if you have worthy advice to give anyone. Unfortunately, here, my friend William Ruto, the only advice you could ever get is on handshakes to facilitate looting," stated the Majority Leader.

Ichung'wah's scathing attack came a few hours after Uhuru expressed that he could not invite Ruto to iron out issues insisting that it should be the other way round.

He claimed that he regularly reached out to former Presidents Mwai Kibaki and Daniel Arap Moi in his political run.

"I can't invite myself to talk with him but if he reaches out to me, he is my President, I will go. I went to Moi and Kibaki regularly to seek advice," he remarked.

"It is simple, I am doing Pan-African work, which is my hobby. In law, I should be advising the President (Ruto), but this depends on whether my advice is solicited. I can't give if not asked."

Political analyst and political scientist, Mutahi Ngunyi, however, argued that establishing a common understanding agreement between Ruto and his predecessor may be a challenging task.

He argued that the discord between the two leaders is deeply rooted in issues of ego, warning that Ruto's desire for power and reluctance to be upstaged by others could be a major contributing factor to the fallout.

"The bullfight between William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta is between egos. Uhuru should remember that the Presidency is a jealous institution. Taking the spotlight from Ruto does not sit well with the new President. He should climb down," Ngunyi argued.

In a meeting with senior editors from leading media houses, Uhuru explained that he will not sit around and let other individuals malign his name and harass his family members.

He noted that despite the police allegedly raiding his son Jomo Kenyatta's home over 28 mysterious guns, he only possessed three, all legally acquired.
