A boda boda rider who was run over three times by a motorist, in a CCTV footage shared on Friday, August 4, has spoken on the harrowing incident.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the rider, Timothy Muoria, claimed that the rogue motorist unjustifiably attacked him on his way home from watching a football match at Kinangop town in the company of two friends.

Contrary to reports that alleged that Muoria and the driver were embroiled in an altercation, the rider clarified that he was caught unawares by the attack as he had not engaged his assailant.

“I remember seeing a car flashing behind us, and when we got to the corner, I remember being hit from behind and falling to the ground," Muoria recalled.

"After crushing, I only remember waking up in the hospital to find the video circulated widely on social media,” he added.

In a shaky voice, Muoria expressed his astonishment at surviving the tragic ordeal, recalling how the rogue motorist intentionally reversed the vehicle twice to crush him.

Mwaura Muoria, the victim's father, added that his son was recuperating at Kinangop Hospital and was making positive progress.

His son, he disclosed, sustained two broken legs and other minor injuries to his head and torso.

“The doctors are still assessing my son’s situation; hopefully, he will be discharged next week. I am praying that he will fully recover from this incident, not just physically but even mentally,” Mwaura prayed.

He also concurred with his son's remarks that the motorist captured on CCTV was unfamiliar to them. The family filed a report with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday, August 2, seeking to have the driver arrested and charged with attempted murder and reckless driving.

After its detectives reviewed the CCTV footage, DCI launched an investigation into the case and ruled out the incident as a normal accident.

They also apprehended the motorist, who was said to be a wealthy and influential businessman in Kinangop in Nyandarua County.
