Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, on Saturday, August 12, took time off his busy schedule to visit his driver Sammy Cheborgey in his rural home in Kapsabet, Nandi County.
Gachagua revealed that Cheborgey has served his family for the last 15 years in an emotional tribute on his social media pages.
The DP described his driver as a loyal friend noting that his visit to the Nandi family was to repay the kindness and loyalty the driver had shown towards him and his family.
Cheborgey was lauded for sticking with the DP during the most difficult moments of his life, even going over and above to protect him.
However, the DP did not detail the specific difficult moments he was referring to nor how he met and hired the derived.
"Cheborgey has lived in my home for those many years; hence, my visit also to know his home. Loyalty and commitment must count for something.
"He has been a blessing to me and my family and covered my back like a younger brother," he stated.
During the visit, the DP was introduced to Cheborgey's children and extended family, which he asserted was like his own.
He also shared a meal with the hosts and the locals who were invited to welcome him in the village on the outskirts of Kapsabet Town.
Gachagua visited his driver's home while on a working tour of the Rift Valley.
Prior to the visit, Gachagua attended a fundraiser for Anglican churches at the St Mark ACK Church, Lolkerieny.
Roads Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Nandi Governor Stephen Sang accompanied him.
