During the raid, detectives also recovered 18 suspected cocaine pellets, described as addictive drugs.

Detectives suspected that the money was from proceeds of drug trafficking due to the distinct mix of foreign and local currency.

“The cash included $12,601 USD, €15 Euros, Sh509, 495, Tsh24,000 and 10,000 Angolan Kwanza,” a statement from DCI read in part.

According to DCI officers, two suspected were arrested during the raid and were detained at Muthaiga Police Station for further investigation and before their arraignment.

“The search was extended to an adjacent house believed to be a stash house within the same area where 3 test tubes, a digital weighing machine and an ID card were recovered,” the statement read further.

This raid conducted by DCI’s Anti-Narcotics Unit was made days after the unit recovered Ksh13 million in a slum within Ngara.

The amount of money was found stashed in 26 gunny bags. Police also seized marijuana that was stored as an exhibit as police commenced investigations into drug trafficking.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, August 17, the DCI further announced that they were planning to raid 'Aunty was Kasarani' a suspected drug dealer living in Kasarani, Nairobi, in a crackdown against drug peddlers.

In line with the developments, the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) praised DCI officers for their fight against drug abuse and trafficking.

"This is a demonstration of the effectiveness of prompt coordination, synergy and execution of operations among government agencies in line with the one-government approach," NACADA showered praises on DCI officers.

The Authority further urged the public to continue tipping police officers in case they suspected a drug dealer.
