Over 49 occupants of an ENA Coach bus escaped unscathed after the bus burst into flames along the Narok-Mai Mahiu, a few hours after leaving Nairobi.

Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred after one of the wheels developed a puncture.

After detecting the malfunction, the driver attempted to pull over the vehicle but it burst into flames, likely from the punctured wheel's impact against the tarmac.

The incident occurred in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a representative from ENA coach confirmed the incident but declined to divulge further because he is not authorised to speak to the press.

A video that made rounds online showed the fire engulfing the entire bus despite attempts by the passengers to put it out.

Some of the occupants of the bus lost their valuables in the incident but fortunately, no one was hurt.

Since June, Kenya has witnessed at least three cases of vehicles bursting into flames with fatal outcomes in some incidents.

For instance, on June 27, a family of five narrowly escaped death along Embu-Meru Highway after the car they were travelling in veered off the road before bursting into flames.

The family members were, however, rescued by well-wishers albeit with injuries and were transferred to Kyeni Mission Hospital.

The cause of the accident was determined to be the slippery road conditions caused by ongoing rains that forced the car to skid off the road.

In another instance, the driver of a truck died after it burst into flames following an accident that took place at Ngata Baraka Area along the Nakuru - Eldoret Highway.

Nakuru Police officers informed the media that the truck, which was transporting sacks of maize to various parts of the region, appeared to have lost control, as per their preliminary assessment. The vehicle first developed mechanical challenges before crashing into a matatu and eventually bursting into flames.
