The order for the arrest of the officer was ordered by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution on August 7.

"She will appear before the Kitui law courts on Monday, September 25, 2023," the statement by the police read in part.

She is expected to face the charge of robbery with violence under Section 295 of the Kenyan Penal Code.

"Any person who steals anything and at the time of or immediately before or immediately after the theft uses or threatens to use actual violence to any person or to any person who is within hearing is guilty of the offence," Section 295 states.

The officer risks life imprisonment.

The minimum sentence for robbery with violence is life imprisonment, but a judge can impose a shorter sentence, depending on the circumstances of the case.

The officer is likely to be suspended from the service.

However, her employment will be terminated immediately upon conviction of the offense of robbery with violence.
