A woman from Nakuru on Wednesday recalled a distress call she received from her husband hours before his body was found lying on the road.
Speaking to the press, the grieving woman revealed that on the said day, she left her husband in the house and went to pick up her child from school.
However, he was not around when she returned home as he had gone to town.
Hours passed, and the woman grew worried as the husband didn't answer her repeated calls.
"At 10 pm, I took the child to sleep, and then he called me. He told me that he was tied up in an unknown location, and the people wanted to kill him," she narrated.
As the husband was narrating his ordeal, his call ended abruptly, and subsequent attempts to reach him were futile.
She thus decided to call her father-in-law as her husband rarely spent nights away from home.
He had also received the same message from his son, who complained that the deceased sounded distressed and helpless.
"In the morning, I decided to go to town and look for my husband. Then I got a call from a relative who informed me something had occurred and I should rush to town," she narrated.
In town, the widow met a huge crowd gathered around, piquing her curiosity. She stopped to stare, too, only to realise that the subject of interest was her husband's lifeless body.
The grieving woman called upon the police to investigate the case, adding that her husband was a law-abiding citizen who did not deserve such a brutal death.
"I fainted when I heard the news, all I want is justice for my husband all he did was sell potatoes and was not a thief," she added.
Police have yet to release a report on the incident and it is yet to be clear whether an autopsy will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
