Former Citizen TV anchor Willis Raburu has quit his position as Chairperson of the Nairobi Festival Committee, a position he landed in July this year.

In a statement, the former 10 over 10 host noted that he had already handed in his resignation to Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja who appointed him to the position.

"This morning, I have officially informed the leadership of the county that I will no longer be serving in my current capacity as Chair of the Nairobi Festival Committee," read the statement in part.

"It has been an honor to work alongside Governor Sakaja and his administration, and I would like to express my deep gratitude for the trust and opportunity that they have extended to me during my time here."

The media personality further noted that his departure was necessitated by the need for systemic change but failed to reveal the specifics that prompted his exit.

"However, this decision is driven by a recognition of the pressing need for systemic change to enhance the effectiveness of our service delivery and leadership," he added.

"It is clear that to better serve the county and its residents, a more comprehensive look at existing systems is essential, which to be fair, have already been instituted and I wish them all the best in this regard."

The journalist further indicated that his support for the county leadership is still unequivocal, although he will be supporting the devolved government from a distance going forward.

"I firmly believe that with the right structural adjustments and a collective commitment to positive change, we can pave the way for a brighter future. My hope is that this decision will serve as a catalyst for the necessary transformation that our county deserves," he explained.

In the new role that Raburu assumed in mid-July, the former news anchor worked closely with Sakaja and worked extensively on youth programs.

After vacating the Nairobi County job, Raburu will concentrate on his TV47 gig where he hosts Wabebe XP, a music magazine show he has presented since joining the station in August.

"I’m excited to be joining Kenya’s fastest-growing media house, TV47," stated Raburu while debuting his new show.

"This partnership shows their commitment to diversity, quality, and excellence, and I’ll be joining a team that continues to exhibit and grow these amazing tenets. Buckle your seatbelts! We are in for an amazing ride."

The presenter quit Citizen TV in June this year.
