A family in Turkana is fearing the worst after their son, a young boy, was swept away while trying to cross a flooded road.
The 26-second video, initially shared on Saturday, captured the boy in a yellow t-shirt attempting to brave the floods to cross the road.
After making some progress, he lost his balance at the 12-second mark, slid, and fell.
The swift currents then swept him off the road.
It remains uncertain whether the boy survived the incident or if his body was recovered.
Turkana is one of the counties where heavy rainfall, which started in mid-October, has been recorded with the effects expected to intensify.
According to the Kenya Meteorological Department, storms will continue hitting some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley.
Other areas on the list include the South-eastern lowlands, the Coast, North-western and North-eastern Kenya.
"Moderate average daytime (maximum) temperatures of between 20 degrees Celcius and 30 degrees Celcius are expected over much of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley and the South-eastern lowlands," read the forecast in part.
"The same areas moderate average night-time (minimum) temperatures of between 10 degrees Celcius and 20 degrees Celcius."
Another impacted county, Mandera, has seen over 2,500 displaced in a span of 36 hours ending Saturday since heavy rains started pounding the country.
Overall, at least 100,000 families in the county have been affected since heavy rains started.
Countrywide, at least two people have lost their lives due to the extreme weather that continues to impact several regions including Mombasa, Nairobi, Isiolo and Meru among others.
