Kenyans living along the Kirinyaga and Embu border were left shocked on Wednesday after discovering a dead body along the Rupingazi River.

According to the residents who spoke to journalists, the body was found along the banks of River Rupingazi in a naked state.

Of particular concern to the residents is that the matter has not been properly investigated and as such, called on authorities to get to the bottom of the matter.

They also expressed concerns that some constituents use the water for domestic purposes and such incidents are likely to affect the quality of the water.

At the time of discovering the body, the area was experiencing heavy rainfall.

However, locals do not know what happened to the deceased or their identity.

"We appeal to the County Government to help remove this body from the river," one resident stated.

The residents suspect that the body might have been dumped upstream and washed down by the water to their village.

Police had not issued a statement on the matter leaving the locals in a dilemma.

Due to the ongoing heavy rains, the river has overflowed threatening the lives of those living within the vicinity.

The man's body was found a few days after a missing Embakasi officer was found dead with his head chopped off also in Kirinyaga County.

Witnesses narrated that the officer's body, dumped in a coffee plantation, had visible knife wounds.

His body was taken to the Kerugoya Referral Hospital awaiting a postmortem.

In both cases, the motive of the murder was not immediately clear.
