Pastor Dorcas Rigathi on Wednesday offered former KTN political reporter Johanna Chacha a job during the alcohol rehabilitation graduation ceremony in Nyandarua County.

Addressing the graduates, the Spouse of the Deputy President revealed that the journalist, who had been battling alcoholism for seven years, will serve in her office henceforth.

In his new role, Chacha will be tasked with regular motivational visits to rehabilitation programmes undertaken under the Second Lady's stewardship.

Pastor Dorcas echoed that all Kenyans deserved a second chance, with the news of Chacha's employment receiving a round of applause from attendees at the event.

"To the (former) KTN reporter, I will employ you in my office so that you can go to these people and talk to them. Be the ambassador around them," she announced.

Prior to his graduation, the journalist revealed that he worked as a volunteer at an organisation but was yet to land formal employment replete with an income.

Chacha began his media career in 2013 and climbed up the ranks to become a senior political reporter at KTN and K24 television stations.

He, however, lost his job in 2016 after failing to show up for work for three consecutive days.

His absence from the office was attributed to his addiction to alcoholism.

“We have learnt a lot about life from the rehabilitation program. It was my decision to join the program and I don’t regret it at all. I can see I have now regained some respect from my friends," Chacha stated then.

The Dignified Future programme was initiated by Pastor Dorcas as part of her programmes at the Office of the Spouse of the Deputy President.

Through the programme, the second lady particularly targets the boys and men who are struggling with alcoholism and crime.
