Private Schools dominated top positions in the latest Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) Examination results released by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
Leading the chart was Riara Springs Academy in Nairobi, which produced the best student nationally, Michael Warutere who scored 428 marks.
Gilgil Hills Academy, a mixed Primary School in Nairobi, produced the second-best candidate, Emmaculate Wacheke, who garnered 427 marks.
Gilgil tied with St Anne's Girls Primary, a public Primary School in Kakamega County whose student Jacinta Bethany Khasungu also got 427 marks.
Felix Omondi from Rae Kanyika Primary School in Kisumu County registered 426 marks, tying with Khadija Hamid from Light Academy in Nairobi.
Debra Aluel from Ndima Kanini Academy scored 425 marks, followed by Muchoki Rosemary Ndula from Pen-Elite Primary, who got 424 marks, tying with Rotich Jeremy Kipng'eno from Moi Educational Centre.
George Kipkoech Mutai from St Bakhita School Sabaki also scored 423 marks.
Seven candidates tied with 423 marks with the schools ranging from Imperial Primary School, St Andrew Kaggwa Boys, St Anselm Mururi Boarding School and Gilgil Hills Academy.
CS Machogu released the 2023 KCPE results on Thursday, marking the end of an era of the final KCPE examinations under the 8-4-4 system.
Over 1.4 million students sat the exams, with 8,523 students garnering over 400 marks.
The CS assured parents that the government would effect the 100 per cent transition policy, including introducing special examinations in January 2024 for candidates who failed to sit their exams in the current year.
