A Kenyan man living in Mexico is fighting for his life after an explosion.

By the time of publishing this piece, it was not immediately clear where in Mexico the explosion occurred, what caused it, and whether there were other casualties during the incident.

According to reports, the man went into a medically induced coma.

However, he was left stranded at the hospital for some days as none of his family members had been informed of the incident when it happened on Friday before they eventually learned about it through appeals on social media.

According to a social media user who first shared the information online, the Kenyan man's girlfriend requested help to inform the parents and family members about the development.

In the appeal shared online it was revealed that the man suffered severe burn injuries.

The victim lived in Guadalajara with some family members. The social media user who shared the information also revealed that the man had been away from Kenya for over 15 years.

Family members were asked to contact the Kenyan Embassy in Washington DC or dial the said number to reach their kin.

Mexico does not have a Kenyan Embassy and relies on the mission in the American capital.

"He is my neighbor, I have already called his brother and dad. The family now knows, thank you for sharing and God bless you," one person commented.

Hours later, his family members acted fast and contacted the girlfriend and relevant authorities.

The family from Githunguri, Kiambu County thanked the online community for the information.

"Thank you for speedy sharing,  the father and brother have reached out. We have notified the contacts in Washington for a quick response. Be blessed good people," activist Simon Mwangi wrote.

Mexico has experienced several explosions in the recent past from gas accidents and others from volcano calamities.
