Mwiki Police Station on Friday informed members of the public that it would dispose of uncollected goods including vehicles and motorcycles with their associated accessories.
Through a Gazette Notice dated Friday, December 1, the police station issued an ultimatum to the owners of the said motor vehicles to collect them within 30 days.
After the lapse of 30 days, the goods will be sold through an auction following an order issued in the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Makadara.
The police station noted that the exercise would be done in accordance with the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act (Cap. 38) of the laws of Kenya and following authorities and order under the Miscellaneous Application Case No. E1476 of 2023 in the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Makadara.
“If the depositor has not taken delivery by the date specified in the notice, then the custodian may give the depositor notice of his intention to sell the goods,” the Act read in part.
The motorcycles abandoned in the station are of different makes, including Bajaj, TVS, Ranger, Flyjet, Captain and Skygo.
In total, 14 motorcycles will be put on auction should their owners not clear with the police station within the stipulated 30 days.
Additionally, 24 vehicles will also be put into auction.
Some of the models up for sale include Nissan Sunny, Subaru Impreza, Honda Saloon, Toyota Sienta, Mazda Demio, Toyota Axio and Toyota Hiace.
Other goods that will be up for sale include; bicycles, a typing machine, a sewing machine, woofers, speakers and iron box scrap.
The police station will also dispose of wheelbarrows, a spade, a windscreen and a fuel pump.
Prices of the various items to be sold through the auction were not included in the Gazette Notice.
