Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has been appointed as a board member of the Interpeace Governing Board - the highest decision-making body of the organisation, Interpeace.
Interpeace is an international organisation that deals with providing solutions to address conflict in violent-prone countries.
The organisation has over 27 years of working experience spanning the globe including Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe and Latin America.
In a statement by the former CS's foundation, Amina Live Foundation, she received a unanimous vote from other board members owing to her extensive experience in diplomacy.
"We are delighted to announce that Ambassador Amina Mohamed has been unanimously admitted to the Interpeace Governing Board," the statement read in part.
"Amina's extensive experience in diplomacy and development will be a valuable asset to the board as we work to promote peace and security around the world."
"Ambassador Amina Mohamed brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Interpeace Governing Board. We are confident that her leadership will help us advance our mission of building lasting peace in conflict-affected regions."
Mohamed, who is known for her distinguished career in both the public and foreign service, had shied away from the limelight after the entry of President William Ruto's administration.
In February 2023, she was part of the Commonwealth election observers team sent to Nigeria. The team comprised various personnel including politicians, diplomats, human rights advocates and election administrators.
In November 2022, Amina was appointed to lead a 5-member commonwealth observer mission to Dominica for its general election.
Other former Cabinet Secretaries have equally set precedence in the international scene by landing international roles.
In early 2023, former ICT CS Joe Mucheru was appointed the new president of JUMO - a multinational intelligent banking firm.
On the other hand, former Tourism CS Najib Balala was appointed as the new vice-president of Fauna & Flora International - a United Kingdom based charity organisation.
