State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed slammed Kenyans for criticising President William Ruto’s Christmas gift to his neighbours in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County.
Thousands of people thronged the President’s residence for the free Christmas gifts, some arriving as early as 4:00am.
A section of Kenyans was not impressed with Ruto’s acts of charity and criticised the President for enforcing tax policies that they claimed turned Kenyans into paupers.
“President William Ruto today sharing with his neighbours in Sugoi during this festive season. Unbelievable how some (whose sport is to find fault at everything as the President said) would criticise sharing with the people.” Hussein posted on his X account.
Hussein stated that those attacking the president for his Christmas gift are against the Christmas spirit of sharing with the less fortunate in society.
“If you're against sharing with your neighbours and humanity, you might want to check if your heart's still beating. Being mean is bad, but it’s even worse to campaign against sharing with humanity.” he lamented.
In a viral video, Ruto’s neighbours drawn from Uasin Gishu and Kakamega counties were queuing as early as 4:00 am to receive the goodies.
The President accompanied by the First Lady, Mama Rachel, and a host of politicians gave their neigbours wheat flour, cooking oil and rice.
“Citizens lining up for relief food one week after their favourite God-chosen minister said they can't put food on everyone's table because Kenya is not an autocracy,” Gabriel Oguda joked.
"This Robin Hood culture is metamorphosing into humiliation and indignity, elected leaders must get away to make every homestead food secure. Hunger has no shame !!" Former Uasin Gishu County Governor aspirant Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop lamented.
In his speech, Ruto noted that he knows that the country is facing a lot of challenges including the cost of living and he is working very hard to solve them.
The president also urged Kenyans to be proud of their country instead of complaining about everything.
Ruto has been under attack in recent months especially due to his government's expenditure on foreign travel while Kenyans languish in poverty.
