Popular news anchor and talk show host Grace Kuria has quit TV47 six months after joining the station.

A source privy to the matter told Kenyans.co.ke that the journalist made the announcement via the company's WhatsApp Group.

At the station, Kuria hosted HerSay - a segment that aired every Saturday on the Weekend Edition that focuses on empowering women and highlighting the pivotal role they play in society.

Further, she hosted ToThePoint - another segment on Weekend Edition every Sunday which focused on providing detailed coverage of the country's political events.

"Hello team, Happy New Year! It's been an awesome six months plus at TV47, working alongside a fantastic, gifted team with so much potential," read part of Kuria's message.

"I'm grateful to each one of you, and particularly those we worked with every Saturday and Sunday, on HerSay and ToThePoint. Like they say, it's not a goodbye but a see you later. Blessings to each one of you."

Additionally, Kuria's colleague Tony Mwirigi also called it quits after four years and eight months.

Mwirigi hosted the Bomba La Sanaa show every Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The journalist took to his social media platforms to thank his colleagues and friends for their support throughout the years.

"It has been great being part of this family for the past four years and eight months. The time now to step out," he stated.

Grace Kuria was among the key journalists hired by TV47 in July last year following its revamp and launch of its new studios in Muthaiga.

Other journalists who were hired at the time included former KTN News anchors George Maringa, Fred Indimuli and Ahmed Bahaj. A month later, former Citizen TV host Willis Raburu also joined the station.

This was part of a rebranding strategy by the Cape Media-owned station in a bid to bolster its newsroom and give it the competitive edge it needs to compete with market leaders such as Citizen TV, NTV and KTN.

Kuria has amassed over six years experience in the media industry, having worked with K24, CGTN, KTN News and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

Her media career began in January 2016 as a reporter at Mediamax's K24. She worked there for 3 years before moving to Standard Group in 2019.

Kuria then joined KTN as a reporter and rose through the ranks to become a news anchor and host of the Beyond the Scars feature and various other current affairs shows.

Two years later, she joined CGTN as a media editor but occupied the position for 8 months before leaving for BBC as a broadcast journalist. In July last year, she joined TV47 as a senior news anchor.
