The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Heritage has invited bids to renovate the cabinet secretary's office at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) building.

In a notice dated Tuesday, the ministry called upon interested individuals to send their bids before January 31, 2024.

"Prices quoted should be net inclusive of all taxes and must be expressed in Kenya shillings and shall remain valid for 156 days from the closing date of the tender," read part of the notice.

The revamp comes three months after CS Alfred Mutua took over from his counterpart Peninah Malonza who was transferred to the Ministry of East African Community (EAC).

In the notice, all interested applicants were urged to send in their bids within the set timeline or lest they be rejected.

All tender documents can be accessed from the ministry's official website tourism.go.ke or tenders.go.ke for free.

Candidates were advised to serialise all pages of the tender documents submitted. Applications should be in plain sealed envelopes and marked 'must' to the Principal Secretary, State Department for Wildlife.

"Tendering will be conducted under a competitive method using a standardized tender document. Tendering is open to all qualified and interested tenders," read part of the notice.

Applicants who download the tender document and require clarification are advised to send their details at least seven days before the closing date to the head of procurement.

After the closing date, the tenders will be publicly opened in the presence of the applicants or their designated representatives.

Besides Mutua's office, the State House is also under renovation for two months with the Treasury projecting the costs to total Ksh795 million by June this year.

This was after President William Ruto refused the plan to construct a new building to cost approximately Ksh2 billion. According to architects, the 117-year-old building has become inhabitable.
