The gruesome murder of a 20-year-old student in Roysambu, Nairobi County reported on Sunday, January 14, has left Kenyans in shock.

The deceased was cut into pieces and dumped in a garbage bin with the suspect fleeing with the head. The main suspect, a Nigerian national, was however arrested attempting to flee the country via the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Abuja.

The incident has triggered hot debate with most Kenyans condemning recent developments. As the conversation raged on, some Kenyans shared a police report allegedly from the suspect who reportedly confessed during interrogation.

The police report in question showed that the suspect had lured over 70 women, killing them for their parts which are then sold in the black market.

However, a fact check by Kenyans.co.ke revealed that the incident broken down in the police report doing rounds on social media occurred in Nigeria where two ritualists were arrested by the Osun State police.

The incident occurred in November 2022, during which the police seized various female body parts from the premises.

According to the police report, the ritualists lured women with money and expensive gifts before committing the heinous act. The victims were invited to a lodging where the murder was committed.

Before proceeding to accommodation spaces, the suspect confessed to taking his victims out when he would buy them food, and drinks, or take them shopping to lure them into proceeding to the 'lodging' with him.

"All they need to do is get or rent a fancy car with cash they would spend on the girls. What they lack is what we use to kill them," read part of the police report.

They would then harvest body parts which would then be sold on the black market. The suspects were paid about Ksh106,000 (N600,000) for every girl killed.

The suspects confessed to also preying on married women who would end up killed alongside their children.

Meanwhile, back in Kenya, women have been urged to be cautious when meeting strangers in rental apartments to avoid falling victim to serial killers.

The recent murder is the second case to be reported within a week that has occurred in rental apartments. On January 6, Starlet Wahu's lifeless body was found inside an accommodation space in South B.

To tame the recent trend, the government has announced new measures to stem such occurrences. This includes guests surrendering their identification documents at the gate and ensuring the CCTV cameras in buildings are functional.
