Even as detectives continue to unravel the murder of Doctor Laban Langat who was murdered at the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital last week, fresh details surrounding the case have emerged.

Detectives investigating the case have established that CCTV footage inside the hospital had been tampered with, a situation which threatens to derail attempts to secure justice for the young doctor's family.

However, while clarifying the matter, the hospital management noted the CCTVs at the hospital were functional at the time of the murder indicating potential foul play by a person with unfettered access.

Nonetheless, it is yet to be established who interfered with the CCTV after the heinous incident.

Laban’s body was last Saturday retrieved from a trench near the hospital by a guard manning the premises.

Even so, CCTV footage obtained from a local pub exposed the last moments of the intern doctor before the murder incident.

In the footage, Langat could be seen entering a pub located along the Nakuru- Kabarnet highway where he was joined by a group of friends.

According to one of the employees at the pub, Laban entered the bar a few minutes past midnight and was joined by his friends. He then went ahead to buy them drinks.

He spent about 30 minutes at the joint before he left and was followed by his friends.

A postmortem examination conducted on Sunday by government pathologist Titus Ngulungu concluded that the medical practitioner was strangled to death.

“The doctor died due to lack of oxygen after his neck was compressed or strangled,” Ngulungu disclosed.

Following the postmortem results, medical officers at the Nakuru Hospital staged protests calling for justice for their deceased colleague.

Commenting on the matter, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika vowed to put out all stops to get to the bottom of Laban's death vowing that no stone will be left unturned.
