Police have launched a manhunt for a young woman suspected to have fled from a lodging, leaving behind the body of a 60-year-old pastor.

The two were said to have spent a night together at Kapsoit Trading Centre in Kericho before the pastor passed away on Wednesday, January 17.

According to reports, the pastor booked the room in the company of the fugitive before they had a fill of merrymaking.

It was suspected that the deacon may have overdosed on sexual enhancement drugs to spice their night up.

However, upon noticing that the man was unconscious, the woman fled after reporting the matter to the managers of the facility who alerted the local police.

Detectives rushed to the scene and collected evidence including a used condom before rushing the body to the Kericho County Referral Hospital pending an autopsy.

Authorities revealed that the body lacked any visible injuries, however, the postmortem would shed light on any other cause of death.

Belgut Sub-County Police Commander Charles Kibati revealed that police commenced with investigations and hoped to bring in the woman to record a statement.

The deacon is among the few men of the cloth who have passed away in hotels, in what police suspected were deaths induced by sexual enhancement drugs.

In July last year, a Catholic Priest from Ruai died in a lodging in Murang'a County after spending the night with a female guest. He became unconscious and was rushed to the Kenol Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The incident made headlines in the country with a section of Kenyans criticising the deceased for allegedly acting contrary to his doctrines. However, the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) called out media houses for covering the matter in an insensitive manner that violated the dignity of the priest.

The Council directed the outlets to respect the privacy of the deceased and also ensure balanced reporting.

Elsewhere, a woman from Homabay was reportedly beheaded by an unknown assailant on Thursday, January 18, while cooking. Police in the area launched a manhunt for the suspect and also warned that murders targeting women were on the rise.

This was after a 20-year-old girl was killed and her body dismembered in Roysambu Nairobi, a few days after socialite Starlet Wahu was killed in South B.
